Samsung Galaxy Note 10:
- Exynos 9825 / Snapdragon 855 chipset
- Triple rear cameras
- IP68 rating
- 25W Fast charging
- Wireless charging
OPPO Reno
- Slightly larger display
- Two RAM offerings
- Two storage offerings
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Slightly larger battery capacity
Starting off with the displays, the Reno’s size edges out the Note 10 just by a bit with its 6.4-inch display. The Reno also has the slightly bigger resolution with its 2340 x 1080 pixels. Still, both have an FHD+ screen that has very little bezels surrounding it. This is made possible due to the Reno’s 16MP pop-up camera mechanism, while the Note 10 has its 10MP front camera in a hole-punch arrangement. Despite the screen differences, both devices are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Snapdragon 855 powers the Note 10, together with Adreno 640 GPU, while the Reno sports a Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with Adreno 616 GPU. We’ve seen the capabilities of the SD855 chipset through a couple of smartphones, and as its one of the latest flagship processors from Qualcomm, it’s more than capable of multitasking and gaming. On the other hand, the Reno possesses SD710, which is a premium mid-range chipset. Just with that, the Note 10 easily beats the Reno when it comes to performance.
As for RAM, the Reno offers it in two variants, 6GB and 8GB. Meanwhile, the Note 10 has a lone offering of 8GB. It’s a good thing to have RAM options but also, do remember that the Note 10 has a newer processor, automatically making it a better fit with its 8GB RAM.
Storage-wise, the Reno also has two options, 128GB and 256GB, while the Note 10 already ups the competition with a 256GB storage. Both of them are non-expandable, but that isn’t much of an issue seeing at the gigantic storage options that the two devices already offer from the get-go.
When it comes to cameras, the Note 10 is equipped with a triple-rear setup, composed of a 12MP + 16MP + 12MP shooters. In contrast to that, the Reno comes with a 48MP + 5MP dual rear setup. In terms of numbers, it’s obvious that the Note 10 already has the upper hand with having one more snapper than the Reno. We’ve yet to see how Note 10’s cameras measure against the quality of Reno’s cameras, so stay tuned for that.
For biometrics, both devices have an in-display fingerprint scanner and face recognition. As for additional features, the Note 10 has Bixby Vision 2.0, heatpipe cooling, IP68 dust and water resistance, AKG stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and of course, the S Pen. The Reno doesn’t have many additional features apart from the 3.5mm audio port that the Note 10 doesn’t have.
Battery-wise, the Reno trumps in capacity with its 3,765mAh battery, as opposed to the Note 10’s 3,500mAh one. Despite that, the Note 10 supports 25W fast charging and 12W wireless charging, while the Reno only has support for VOOC 3.0 flash charge. Both have USB-C and run on Android 9 Pie, but both devices also have their own UI skinned on top of it. The Note 10 comes with a One UI while the Reno has ColorOS 6.
Here are the prices of each smartphone:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 10 – PHP 53,990
- OPPO Reno (6GB + 256GB) – PHP 26,990
While it’s clear that the OPPO Reno is half the price of the Galaxy Note 10, do note that the Reno is a premium mid-ranger up against a standard version of a flagship smartphone. If you’re looking for a better performing smartphone, go for the Galaxy Note 10. However, if you want something that’s full-screen, decent in performance, and for half the price, do get the standard OPPO Reno.
