Facebook features you probably haven’t tried yet
Facebook is usually seen as a platform to connect with people, get information, buy and sell products, and upload and consume content. But this social media giant also has other features that you might find helpful, and you probably haven’t tried them yet. Let us show you what those are.
Note: The article will be mentioning features found on the Facebook mobile app, but some are available on the desktop as well.
Facebook’s City Guides features will show you a slew of recommendations of what to explore in your location or a city you selected. It includes restaurants, nightlife locations, popular attractions, cafes, shopping, art & culture, parks & gardens, and bars. Basically, it shows you where the locals go. You also have the option to Like a specific location, Check-in, Share, and Save.
As the name of the feature suggests, Facebook will provide you a list of nearby establishments where free public WiFi is available. This feature has been around for a while now but is still handy, especially if you’re looking for a place with a free internet connection.
Need to support causes that matter to you? You can do so through Facebook’s Fundraisers feature. From here, you can choose a nonprofit or personal fundraiser available and start donating.
Looking for a job or need to hire someone? You can also do so through Facebook. By default, the feature will provide you a list of available job openings near your area, but you can tweak it based on category and job type. You can also search for a job opening based on the job title.
If you’re hiring, you can also create a job posting that is linked to a Facebook page you manage. From there, you can fill out the form with the necessary information like job title, job description, location, and salary.
If you need help when it comes to your professional development or personal growth, you can take advantage of the Mentorship feature. It allows you to connect with people around specific topics like nutrition, business, cooking, travel, health, and photography, to name a few.
Alternatively, you can also sign up as a mentor so you can help other people based on the topic you are an expert in.
If you want more options aside from Tinder and Bumble, you can also spice up your dating life on Facebook. The service launched last year and matches you with other Facebook users who are using the service based on your interests. One feature of Facebook Dating is called Secret Crush, where users get to choose up to nine specific friends that they are interested in dating. A Facebook Dating profile is needed to activate Secret Crush.
