VIVO V11/V11i: Jovi’s Smart Camera Features

If you own one of VIVO’s latest smartphones, like the V11 or V11i, then you might have encountered one of its features called Jovi. If you’re wondering what it is and what it does, then we’re here to explain.

Jovi is VIVO’s AI assistant which means “Enjoy Vivo’s AI” and is part of the company’s FunTouch OS 4.5 for the V11 and V11i. It works with the phone’s other features like the home screen, cameras, even with game apps, to provide the user a better experience. For this article, we’re going to explore what it does for the cameras.

AI Face Beauty

In Face Beauty mode, the VIVO Smart Camera uses AI technology to analyze the user’s skin type, skin tone, gender, age, and previous preferences to apply the best face beauty effect for that user. It’s a pretty handy AI as the device handles all the enhancements. All the user needs to is to just point and shoot. To use AI Face Beauty, just go to the camera app and tap on AI Face Beauty camera mode which is on the left side of “Take Photo”.

AI Scene Identification

When taking photos with the camera, your phone will use AI technology to identify the scene and provide the best photo effects based on that scene. For example, when we’re shooting a scene in low-light, it will automatically activate Low-Light Mode. When the subject is against a strong light source, it will activate Backlight HDR. Currently, it is able to identify 17 difference scenes including people, nighttime settings, flowers and plants, and food. Again, all you need to do is point and shoot, and the camera does the rest.

AI Portrait Framing

When the rear camera is activated and Face Beauty mode is on, you can enable Portrait Composition. Then the phone will detect the distance, orientation, and position of the face, and recommend an appropriate position for the portrait in the camera framing interface based on the centered composition and golden ratio rules. Follow the instructions to move the phone until the two circles overlap to complete the composition.

Funmoji

If you want to have a bit of fun, the V11 and V11i have this feature called Funmoji, which are basically animated emojis but uses the phone’s front camera and AI algorithm to spot your facial expressions. The downside though is it’s only accessible when you’re in a messaging app, allowing you to send personalized emojis to make chats more fun and lively.

Google Lens

Since the V11 and V11i are Android smartphones, the cameras were also integrated with Google Lens for AI image recognition. It can identify objects and scenes in your photos and it will perform related searches. This comes really handy when you’re exploring popular landmarks, identifying plants and animals, or trying to find out where to buy an outfit or product you’ve spotted somewhere.
