Why the realme Book is a good laptop for online class and WFH needs

The realme Book has just launched in the Philippines and it’s the company’s first laptop. Given its specs and features, we think it’s a great option for work-from-home needs and online schooling. But what are those specs and features? Find out below.

14.9mm thin aluminum body

One of the things that people look for in a laptop for WFH and online classes is its quality and design. Many users prefer a laptop that looks and feels premium, while at the same time, thin and light. The realme Book offers exactly that as it sports an aluminum build with a chic aesthetic.

For its dimensions, it’s only 14.9mm thin it will easily fit inside the bag, and it is light at 1.38kg, so you can easily carry or move around the house with it. So whenever you get tired working on your desk, you can just bring it with you and continue working on the bed or sofa.

In addition, it also comes in two colors — Real Silver for those who want a professional appeal and Real Blue for a more youthful look.

14″ 2K Full Vision Display

Most laptops in this price range sport Full HD screens, but in the case of the realme Book, it has a 14-inch screen with 2K resolution (2160 x 1440), slim bezels for a good 90% screen-to-body ratio, an IPS panel, a 3:2 aspect ratio, 400 nits peak brightness, and a color gamut of 100% sRGB. What this means is that the realme Book can provide a sharp, immersive, and color-accurate viewing experience which makes it great for browsing, office work, photo editing, and watching videos.

Powerful hardware with efficient cooling

The realme Book comes in two configurations — the 11th-gen Intel Core i5 with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, and the Core i3 with Intel UHD Graphics. It also has 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. That configuration is more enough for productivity tasks, but should you require the most computing power, we suggest going for the Core i5 model.

For cooling, the realme Book is equipped with dual 8mm-diameter heat pipes and dual ultra-thin, high-airflow fans with a wing-shaped design. The result is a high-speed cooling system that effectively dissipates heat while staying quiet.

Long battery life

Providing juice to the realme Book is a 54Wh battery, which realme says can provide 11 hours’ worth of 1080p video playback at 150-nit screen brightness, 50% volume, and no Wi-Fi connection. For charging, it supports 65W PD Super-Fast Charge, which can fill the battery to 50% in just 30 minutes.

I/Os, Backlit Keyboard, Fingerprint Power Button

The realme Book Core i3 version features two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 port, and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack. For the Core i5 model, it has a Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 port, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB-A 3.1. Gen 1, and 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack.

If you have peripherals that can take advantage of USB-C such as hubs, the realme Book can accommodate that. But we recommend the Core i5 model if you need the more powerful Thunderbolt 4.

The realme Book also boasts a 3-level backlit keyboard, so you can easily work in the dark. It has a 1.3mm key travel with an X-shape bracket and smile arc. It also boasts a large multi-touch trackpad with support for Microsoft PTP Clickpad Technology.

And for security, it features a fingerprint power button. This adds an extra layer of security and login convenience as all you need to do is press the button to power up the laptop and it will automatically log you in.

Dual HARMAN speakers

Those who are going to use this laptop for WFH and online schooling will need good-sounding speakers. realme addresses that by equipping the realme Book with dual HARMAN high-resolution audio speaker system with DTS Stereo Surround sound. Not only it is loud, but it is also clear and immersive. You will also enjoy using when it’s time to wind down and relax with your favorite movie or TV series.

PC Connect w/ Free upgrade to Windows 11

If you own a realme GT and realme GT Master Edition you will enjoy PC Connect. It basically lets you mirror your realme smartphone to the realme Book, allowing you to access phone apps, notifications, and clipboard in real-time. You can even drag and drop files between the two devices with ease. We hope, though, that realme brings this support to its other realme smartphones.

For the software part, the realme Book runs on Windows 10 Home pre-installed, but once Microsoft’s Windows 11 is out, the realme Book will be upgraded for free.

The realme Book Core i3 model is priced at PHP 37,990 but on September 24-29, you can pre-order it on Lazada for PHP 29,990, a PHP 8,000 discount.

For the Core i5 model, it is priced at PHP 47,990 but on September 24-29, you can pre-order it on Lazada for PHP 41,990, a PHP 6,000 discount.

Silicon Valley will also offer the realme Book from October 1 at SRP. Those who purchase it will get a free one-year Microsoft Office 365 subscription, a realme laptop bag, and a mouse.

So, if you’re thinking of upgrading your gear under this budget, make sure to consider the realme Book.
