As ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission, all Metro Manila landlines will have an additional prefix number beginning this year, bringing the landline number digit to 8. Here’s a quick cheat sheet on what to know before dialing a landline.
The NTC memorandum order, 10-10-2017, signed last October, states that all telecommunications companies offering landlines in Metro Manila must add a prefix to the existing seven-digit landline number and will take effect on March 18, 2019. Telecom companies will perform their migration transfer by midnight, and the new digits will be activated as early as 5 AM.
Here’s a quick list of those numbers:
Prefix Number | Telco |
---|---|
3-XXX-XXXX | Bayan Telecommunications (BayanTel) |
6-XXX-XXXX | ABS-CBN Convergence Eastern Telecom |
7 XXX-XXXX | Globe Telecom (Innove) |
8-XXX-XXXX | PLDT / Digitel |
Other prefixes not mentioned in this list are currently vacant, and the NTC will publish occupants in the future. The correct format for landline calls from mobile beginning March 18 will be +63 2X-XXX-XXXX, X-XXX-XXX, or 02X-XXX-XXX, depending on the network, with the area code still intact and the prefix number added before the landline number.
Example: My current landline number at home is 217-9999 that is under Globe Telecom. You’ll need to add 7 to reach that number starting March 19, and it will be 7-217-9999. If you’re calling from mobile, you can use 7-217-9999, +63-27-217-999, or 027-217-9999.
We hope this helps you prepare for the upcoming changes in landline numbers this year. We also recommend to start asking your friends on what’s their landline telco provider, so you’d be prepared! Let us know any comments below and we’ll try to help you out.
what about this number 551 0852
what should be the prefix number
what if you have a landline number under Globe located at region 2, and you have a globe landline in metro manila and you want to call them or get in touch with them using the phone, what would be the correct number to dial?
Paanu naman kong tatawag sa mobile phone smart network user gamit pldt landline
The brains who implemented this 8 number schemes are empty. The correct way is to insert the additional ‘8’ to all metro manila number irregardless of telco globe, pldt, bayantel. 8,7,or 3 is very very very confusing if you don’t know what number your are calling to (pldt?globe? bayantel?). The empty brainheads who devised this scheme felt very proud of their solution. Their empty heads have no idea of the confusion they created.
Tama po kayo! How do we find out if its globe or pldt or bayan– if first time caller tayo tas yung mga offices, home credit and the likes.
How is 8, 7, 3 confusing? 8 is PLDT, 7 is Globe, 3 is Bayantel. Confusing sayo yun?
Sa lumang scheme nga di mo malalaman yung network eh.
i can’t call the numbers, laging sinasabi na incorrect number but i am putting the correct number. any help?
kahit na nga diko alam kong anong provider ang line nila, i tried to use all the format but none is successfull to call them? pwedi po bakayong maglagay ng format sa lahat ng Area nationawide so we can find it easily
But how do you find out the network that number you’re dialing belongs to? Pano mo malalaman kung BayanTel/PLDT number yung tinatawagan mo? This system kinda makes things more complicated, pero and explanation ng Globe when I asked about it was that nauubusan na kasi daw ng number combinations kaya ganito.
Paano kung may tatawagan ka sa Davao City?
idk. if it were up to me, the ‘added switch’ should be at the network level so no more hassle for the end users.
if calling from a globe number, globe telecom shall auto-add the required prefix without user interference, and so on for the other telecoms.
Eh kaso, it’s not up to you. So mag-dusa kayong lahat!
