OpenSignal Mobile Networks Update: Philippines (August 2018)

OpenSignal has released their Mobile Networks Update for August 2018, showing the 4G and 3G performance of the Philippines’ two mobile operators, Globe Telecom and PLDT’s Smart Communications.

For this report, OpenSignal collected 949,285,077 data points from 76,034 users in the Philippines during the period: May 1 – Jul 29, 2018.

According to their findings, Smart is still leading when it comes to 4G average download speeds at 13.02Mbps, while Globe is at 7.34Mbps. Smart also performed better in 4G average upload speeds at 5.53Mbps, while Globe is at 2.96Mbps.

However, Globe is leading in terms of 3G average download speeds at 2.7Mbps, while Smart is at 2.34Mbps.

When it comes to overall download speeds (4G and 3G), Smart leads at 7.46Mbps, while Globe is at 5.01Mbps.

In terms of 4G latency, Globe and Smart almost have the same performance, but the former is better in availability at 67.79% compared to the latter’s 64%.
