Alienware Area-51m upgradeable gaming laptop now official

Alienware has released their new gaming laptop which claims to be the first “true desktop replacement” with CPU and GPU upgradability, the Alienware Area-51m.

To start with, the Alienware Area-51M is a mean-looking gaming machine with a magnesium alloy chassis. It features the brand’s new Legend design that takes cues from sci-fi culture and its early industrial designs. It also sports the new ‘three-knuckle hinge’ design and comes in two optional finishes – Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon.

For the specs, it has a 144Hz G-SYNC 17-inch Full HD display with thin borders, Tobii Eye Tracking, Alienware TactX keyboard with N-key rollover, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI 2.0 Output with HDCP 2.2 Output, Thunderbolt 3, Mini-Display 1.4 Output, and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type-A Port with Powershare Technology.

Powering the Area-51M is a 9th gen Intel Core processor up to Core i9-9900HK, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU (overclockable), up to 64GB RAM, and up to 3TB storage. When it comes to upgradeability, the CPU can be easily replaced with other standard desktop-class processors, while GPU upgrades will require an onboard graphics module, which can be a bit tricky.

Keep the whole machine cool is Alienware’s Cryo-Tech v2.0 which consists of big vents, dual-intake/exhaust design, high voltage driving fan, load-balancing heat pipes, and copper fin stacks.

The Alienware Area-51m with Legend design will be available on January 29, 2019, starting at USD 2,549.

What a great-looking beast! Wonder how much will it cost to reach here? And by the way, how heavy it is?
