Cherry Mobile Flare S6 First Impressions

Cherry Mobile unleashed a trio of smartphones yesterday, and the most affordable of the bunch is the Flare S6, packing a 5.2-inch HD display, MediaTek octa-core CPU, 13MP Sony rear camera, LTE, and Android Nougat.

The Flare S6 has the same screen size as the Flare S6 Selfie at 5.2-inches. However, it has a lower screen resolution at HD (1280 x 720) or equal to 282ppi, which is still a decent density given the size. It has nice colors and good viewing angles so it’s not ugly to look at.

Located above the display is the 13MP OmniVision camera, receiver, and LED flash. Down below are the unlit capacitive keys for Recent Apps, Home, and Back.

The left is devoid of any buttons, while on the right are the power/lock and volume buttons.

Up top is the 3.5mm audio port, while down at the bottom are the microphone, USB Type C port, and loudspeaker.

Flip it on its back and you will find the 13MP Sony IMX135 main shooter, LED flash, and the fingerprint scanner.

Given that it’s an entry-level device, the Flare S6 doesn’t have a premium build like the rest of its siblings since it has a plastic body. On the bright side, it feels solid while the matte finish repels smudges and fingerprints well. The backplate is removable to give access to the battery, SIM card slots and dedicated microSD card slot.

The Flare S6 is priced at Php3,999 and will be available this October.
