Huawei has just launched its latest budget-friendly smartphone, the Huawei Y6s, in the Philippines. The device sports a Mediatek MT6765 chipset, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera. Join us for a quick take of this handset.

The rear of the Y6s is reminiscent of the Google Pixel and the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019’s design, employing a two-tone finish which Huawei dubbed as Orchid Blue. The upper portion of the Y6s’s plastic back is glossy, while the other half is matte. Even if it’s plastic, the smartphone feels sturdy in the hands. It’s also a rather slim and lightweight device. The 13MP camera and the circular fingerprint scanner occupy the upper half of the device’s back.

On the display aspect, the Y6s sports a 6.09-inch screen with a drop notch that houses the 8MP shooter. The side bezels are thin, but the chin is pretty wide, with the Huawei logo stamped on it.

we’ll be taking this device for a full spin to see if it can stand its ground in the entry-level segment. Stay tuned. This segment is where the competition is fierce, and I know huawei tried to put out a good product, unfortunately, its rivals has already undermined them, redmi and realme have the redmi note 8 and realme 5 released earlier. Which makes this release moot. Also, huawei can only release phones with google support if the phone has been released earlier, hence this is a Y6 Pro 2019 updated.
