OPPO F3 vs F3 Plus: What’s Different?

OPPO has already made available in the Philippines their two newest smartphones aimed at consumers who want to take their selfies to the next level – the F3 and F3 Plus. Both phones share the name but not equal in terms of specs and price. What’s different between the two? Let’s find out.

Dimensions

The F3, being literally the smaller sibling, packs a smaller footprint which can be attributed to its smaller display. It’s shorter, narrower, thinner, and lighter than the F3 Plus. The advantage is it will be held more comfortably by users with average-sized hands.

The F3 Plus, on the other hand, is bigger which is understandable given its display size and battery capacity. Users with big hands can wield this device easily.

Display

The F3 has a smaller screen at 5.5-inches with Full HD resolution. That said, it packs more pixels per inch at 401. However, those who prefer a device with a large screen without going full tablet will enjoy the F3 Plus’ 6-inch display. The only sacrifice is the lower PPI count at 367. Both displays are protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.

Processor

One of the biggest differences between the two devices is the engine under the hood. The F3 has a Mediatek MT6750T octa-core CPU and Mali-T860MP2 GPU, while the F3 Plus has a Snapdragon 653 octa-core CPU and Adreno 510 GPU. There’s a huge performance difference if you look at benchmark results with the F3 Plus scoring 92,524 in AnTuTu while the F3 only got 53,036.

Don’t get us wrong though, the F3 also performs pretty well for its class, and it also has another trick up its sleeves – triple slots dedicated for two SIM cards and a microSD card (up to 128GB). Whereas the F3 Plus uses a hybrid SIM tray (up to 256GB).

Main camera

The rear camera also differs in the F3 and F3 Plus. The former sports 13MP f/2.2 shooter, while the latter has 16MP f/1.7. It doesn’t stop at pixel count though as the F3 Plus has 4K video recording while the F3 maxes out at 1080p. That said, the F3 Plus has the upper hand if you prefer a better camera.

Battery

Since the F3 Plus is pushing a larger display, more powerful features, not to mention a higher price tag, it’s only logical that it offers something more to widen the gap between its smaller sibling. In this case, a larger battery capacity at 4,000mAh with support for VOOC Flash Charge. As for the F3, it has a smaller, but still decent 3,200mAh battery but without the fast charging capability.

Price

Obviously, the F3 and F3 Plus are priced differently given their configurations. The F3 is priced at Php16,990 while the F3 Plus is at Php23,990. That’s a Php7,000 difference. So…

Which one should you get?

Go for the F3 if you require the following:
• Smaller build
• Higher display PPI
• Dual-SIM with dedicated microSD card slot
• Lower price

Go for the F3 Plus if require the following:
• Larger screen
• More capable processor
• Better rear camera
• Larger battery capacity with Flash Charging
