Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 636

Qualcomm has recently announced a new mobile platform dubbed the Snapdragon 636, which is said to deliver 40 percent increase in device performance over the Snapdragon 630 with Qualcomm’s Kryo 260 CPU.

The Snapdragon 636 features a 14nm FinFet process which makes it compatible with with the Snapdragon 660 and 630 Mobile Platforms. It comes with support for modern ultra-wide FHD+ displays and Assertive Display, which optimizes the visibility of the display in all lighting conditions. For superior viewing experience, Qualcomm TruPalette  and Qualcomm EcoPix features are integrated in the Adreno Visual Processing Subsystem.

The new chip is paired with the new Adreno 509 GPU and is said to boost gaming and browsing performance by 10 percent as compared to the previous generation. As for its connectivity department, it features Snapdragon X12 LTE modem, with download speeds of 600 Mbps. It also comes with 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP which supports capture of up to 24 megapixels with zero shutter lag while supporting smooth zoom, fast auto-focus, and true-to-life colors. Audio-wise, the new chip has Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec which supports Hi-Fi audio, with up to 192kHz/24bit support.
