Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is now official

Samsung has finally announced the next generation Galaxy Note. Dubbed the Galaxy Note 2, the phablet has the striking semblance of the Galaxy S3 and is packed with a solid hardware configuration.

Aside from the Nexus 7, the Galaxy Note 2 is among the the first handsets that’s been announced to come with Android Jellybean pre-installed.

Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 specs:
5.5″ HD Super AMOLED display @ 1280×720 pixels
Exynos 4 Quad 1.6GHz
2GB RAM
16GB, 32GB, 64GB internal storage
up to 64GB via microSD card
HSPA+ 21Mbps or 4G LTE 42Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, dual band 2.4GHz & 5.0GHz
WiFi Direct
NFC
MHL
Bluetooth 4.0
8MP rear camera, 1080p video recording
1.9MP front-facing camera

Samsung did not indicate the retail price of the Galaxy Note 2 but we expect it will be almost in the same range as the first one (around Php35k). The Note 2 will start shipping out this October in the US and Europe to be followed by Asia (so that’s November to December here in the Philippines).

don’t want the elongated display screen.

am completely satisfied with the dual-core, so i couldn’t care less about quad-core.

will most definitely stick with my galaxy note 1.

Until smartphones are able to support files larger than 4GB, then A screen of this size is useless. Who would watch a 4GB 1080p video? The bitrate would be horrible.

Lol. I would never buy this. Sigh… Can the next Nexus have specs like this ? Please samsung !!

Oh man, wala pa nga akong Note 1, may Note 2 na agad haha :D Sir Yuga, can you compare the two based on longevity in the market? I know Note 2 is better than Note 1 in some ways, pero I’m curious if Note 1 is still a “best buy” considering that Note 2 will be out this December.

I just want to know your opinions (especially those who are Note 1 owners :D ) balak ko kasi bumili ng Note 1 e, pero parang nacompromise na dahil sa Note 2; im considering my budget din kasi :D

for me since im a note user its not qorth it. First para lang siyang s3 na pinalaki. Compared to note 1 .2 inches lang nilaki niya sa note 1 and dualcoe ang note1 and quad core ang note 2…for me di naman kasi need ang quad core for your everyday life eh…cam is the same 8megapix pero ang front cam panalo ang note 1 kasi 2megapix ang note 1. Note 2 ay nsa 1 megapix lang ata. Sa ram naman panalo ang note 2 kasi 2gb ang ram niya sa note 1 naman 1gb lang…pero still you will not use 10 apps all at the same time naman…about sa aps ng note 2 you can download din naman yun sa market eh to have it on your note 2…about os na jellybean ng note 2 you can have it sa note 1 na update via ota or kies if dating na doto sa pinas ang update for note 1. Price wise…cyempre note 1

i was disappointed with this new note 2. I came from galaxy note pero was not impresed sa note 2. Tama. Pinalaking s3 lang naman. .2 inch lang nilaki niya sa note and quad core siya. Pero you dnt need quad core na specs in ur everyday life…was expecting more pa naman…some apps can be downloaded din naman sa market na meron ang note2…and also os can update via ota or kies…again its just my opinion…

The XPERIA T is better. Lol.

    • Avatar for Earlier someone Earlier someone says:

@John, I’m sorry but opt g have quad core krait and the new adreno 320 while sony xperia t is only dual and uses old gpu lol.

And opt g have a bigger screen, battery, and 2gb ram( xperia t, 1 only
Lol). Have larger internal memory 16/32/64 while xperia t is stuck at 16 only lol. Opt g have sexier dimensions… Its slimmer than s3 while xperia T is as fat as iphoney. Gotta love the better design of optg

If i might have somehow misinform(im pretty sure im correct)some… that doesnt matter, so many advantages of lg opt g you see. Well if u already know about this.. I can say maybe it’s just a matter of taste… A good or bad taste :)

LG Optimus G is like Samsung S3, full of Quadcore but ugly looks & late updates, what part did you see the sexiness on that devices, its just an slim iphone
Xperia T got curvy, outstanding design, specwise & also updated on its OS and never compare it to an iphone, bcoz apple owe its success too an old walkman from sony
      hahahaha

That’s on my Christmas list for sure.:) Almost all of the rumors were true, except for the increase in resolution(People were expecting something higher than 720p). Also what happened to the flexible screen? There isn’t a mention of it anywhere?

Oh guys I also have one big question that I have to ask. Does the Note 2 and SGS3 support files larger than 4GB? A bigger screen and added processing power is nice to have, but unless you can play videos of good quality, then they’re usefulness ain’t really gonna show. And I’m still under the impression that most phones still use a FAT32 storage format instead of better formats like exFat or NTFS.

    • Avatar for sylv3rblade sylv3rblade says:

linux can support files larger than 4GB. It’s the format of the SD Card that’s the problem, don’t use Fat32.

    • Avatar for Lezure2010 Lezure2010 says:

I’ve tried using non FAT32 format Sd cards on a couple of Galaxy devices, and they don’t run. You have to reformat them to FAT32. And the internal memory is also on FAT32.

Albeit, these were first generation Galaxy devices though, galaxy tab and SGS.

Have you tried loading up an SGS3 with a 10GB 1080p movie?

    • Avatar for sylv3rblade sylv3rblade says:

ExFat on my Sandisk micro SD, I guess some cards (Class A? etc) it seems have problems with non-Fat32 format.

    • Avatar for Lezure2010 Lezure2010 says:

So you use the exfat formatted sd card on your SGS3? Thanks for the info. The 4GB limit had always been a deal breaker for me.

i think they’ve pulled an “Apple” on this one. Incremental upgrade on specs (from note) and on design (from gs3). it’s like iPhone 4 to 4s.

    • Avatar for sylv3rblade sylv3rblade says:

The original Note stemmed from the GS2. It only makes sense that the GN2 will take it’s roots from the GS3.

Sad it doesn’t have the Exynos 5 proxessor =/

But still, it’s a pretty good phone

I’m satisfied with my current note, no big reason to swap phones yet XD

I don’t need a device with an identity crisis. I mean a “phablet”? Come on Samsung make up your mind.

    • Avatar for Trollala Trollala says:

This device doesn’t have an identity crisis. The size of this device is just perfect for people with big hands and fingers.

Tignan nyo yung Samsung Activ, maganda at aluminum yung ginamit.

    • Avatar for Marcelino Marcelino says:

      Yung ATIV S?

Ok naman, parang Galaxy S2 yung design niya.

Kaso pag usapang Windows Phone, parang synonymous na yan to Nokia eh.

Let’s see how it will go against Lumia Pureview.

  14. Avatar for ChesireCat ChesireCat says:

It kinda resembles an iPhone. I wonder if the paranoid Apple’s gonna sue ’em for this…….

    • Avatar for ChesireCat ChesireCat says:

@Marcelino .I think I had it checked already. Try checking yours….. My name ain’t iSheep.
If you didn’t get it, the thing about Apple was sarcasm. Apple wants to take copyright of everything rectangular-ish. Probably they’ll sue Samsung’s fridges next time.

ang tagal naman :( bday ko sana sa sarili ko.

  17. Avatar for Marcelino Marcelino says:

They should have done better. I was expecting more from Samsung.

The screen quality was compromised a bit, but could not be noticed since it has a bigger screen (5.5″) than the first Galaxy Note (5.3″).

The design could have been better. From afar, it really looks like an out of scale version of Galaxy S3.

Even the camera. It’s still stuck at 8 MP while Sony, HTC and Nokia are going as far as 41 MP.

Nevertheless, it’s still a great gadget to have.

    • Avatar for sylv3rblade sylv3rblade says:

Only Nokia’s phone has the 41MP spec plus oversampling so you’re not getting a 41 MP image from your phone.

    parang pinalaking s3 lang din.
