Here are the advantages of each smartphone:

ASUS ZenFone 5:
+ Wide-angle secondary rear camera
+ 4K video recording
+ Bluetooth 5.0
+ Dual speakers
+ USB Type-C
+ Smart Charging S (adaptive charging)

OPPO F7:
+ LTPS IPS display type
+ Better performing CPU
+ Better performing GPU
+ Dedicated microSD card slot
+ Higher main rear camera resolution
+ Higher front camera resolution
+ Updated Android Oreo
+ Slightly higher battery capacity

Both smartphones have an almost identical display except for the panels that they use. The ZenFone 5 uses the standard IPS LCD while the OPPO F7 uses the LTPS IPS display. The latter helps in providing higher screen resolutions, larger pixel densities and has a lower power consumption than the former. These factors improve the viewing experience of the device.

The ZenFone 5’s Snapdragon 636 and OPPO F7’s Helio P60 processors are both relatively new. Both have the same 14nm architecture so users shouldn’t be arguing about whether the other one heats up quickly since they do warm up after a fair amount of use. The F7 yielded  138,658 while the Zenfone 5 had 124,816 which is not by a mile but shows that the former has a better CPU and GPU performance than the latter.

The ZenFone 5 has a dual rear camera setup with a wide-angle lens as its secondary shooter while the F7 has single rear setup but has a higher resolution. One thing to note is that the former can shoot videos up to 4K resolution while the latter can’t.

The front camera of the F7 is the main feature of the device which sports a 25MP with A.I. Beautification 2.0 while the ZenFone 5 has an 8MP one. Readers can check out the sample shots that we’ve taken on both smartphones here. (ASUS Zenfone 5 and OPPO F7)

The ZenFone 5 has a slightly lower battery capacity but it has a Smart Charging S technology which is similar to the adaptive charging tech that the F7 doesn’t have. Their battery life is affected by main factors like the display, processor architecture, and OS.

The ASUS Zenfone 5 is priced at Php19,995 (4GB RAM variant) and is available nationwide while the OPPO F7 is priced at Php17,990 (4GB RAM and 64GB internal).

If users want a smartphone with a better viewing experience, CPU and GPU performances, a dedicated microSD card slot, and is more affordable, then the F7 is the right pick. For users who want to shoot at a wide-angle lens, record 4K videos, a USB Type-C port, and a battery with Smart Charging S technology, then the ZenFone 5 is the choice.

Also the Zenfone 5 has a glass back and aluminum frame whereas the OPPO F7 has Faux metal frame and acrylic plastic back.

Finally, based on previous cellphones, Asus offer better long-term software support. Though, that is speculative as OPPO might upgrade their software support in the future.

And OPPO F7 has a free jelly case, while Asus seems to have ditched their free case this time around.

Asus does include a free silicon case in the box. Correcting myself.

Idiot they still include a jelly case. They also upgraded the earphones and sounds wayy better than oppo’s (its also they’re original design unlike oppo’s apple-like buds).

Bias comparison in favor of Oppo. Also, so much things were ignored in ZF5. #Paid #OppoTech

  4. Randy D says:

Helio P60 is manufactured in 12nm while sd 636 is still in 14nm, another error is that adreno 509 is better compared to mali g72 mp3 of oppo. Biased or just an honest mistake?

I performed Antutu Benchmark test on my Zenfone 5 it scored approx. 139k. Maybe you did not turn on the AI boost when you performed the Benchmark test. You forgot to note about the superior sound Zenfone 5 can deliver. :) #Zenfone5FTW

I don’t buy mainland Chinese phones. The dictatorship have their hands all over those companies. Why contribute to them? Asus on the other hand is made in free china, Taiwan. It may sound stupid but I believe in supporting democracy whenever and however possible. Besides, despite the bias of the article the ZF5 is a much better phone. I own one and I love it. The Oppo looks cheap by comparison.
