Starmobile recently announced their newest entry-level budget smartphone that features a tough glass called XtremeScreen — the Starmobile UP Xtreme. Check out our hands-on, first impressions of the device here.
The Starmobile UP Xtreme looks like a typical entry-level smartphone. It has the usual front panel with large bezels which isn’t appealing to the eyes nowadays.
At the front is the 5-inch HD display with 2.5D XtremeScreen. The company said that it can withstand scratches, drops (1.8m max), heavy impacts (2m, 32g objects), and pressure (30kg). On top of it are the dual-LED flash, call speaker, and the 8MP front camera. At the bottom are the capacitive buttons with unusual designs.
On the right are the standard volume rocker and power button pairing.
While the other side is bare with no ports or buttons in sight.
Found at the top is the 3.5mm audio port and the micro USB port.
Down below is the lone microphone.
At the back are the 8MP rear camera with LED flash and the loudspeaker. Taking off the back panel will reveal the removable 2,300mAh battery, dual Micro SIM card and dedicated MicroSD card slots.
The UP Xtreme feels bulky and heavy due to the removable battery but feels solid. Its polycarbonate back panel has a matte finish which feels nice and adds grip.
The Starmobile UP Xtreme is powered by an outdated MediaTek MT6580 processor, 1GB RAM, and has an Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. We’ll take this phone for a full spin in the coming days so stay tuned (especially for our screen durability test).
The Starmobile UP Xtreme is priced at Php3,990 and is available at Starmobile concept stores, kiosks, and also at their online store.

Try other brands instead. Waste of money, well, actually mine is a freebie from my Sun Postpaid when I recontract with them. Sadly, wala pang ilang araw, sira na. Went back and forth to their service center in SM Annex, more than a month bago magawa. No wonder walang tao sa service center nila… baka wala ng halos bumibili ng phones nila or worse ang ginagawa ng iba kapag nasira ay tinatapon na. Disposable phone.
Matagal nang dead ang brand na ito. Trying to make a comeback is really difficult especially in the entry level and mid range segment.
