6 Best Features of the Vivo X20 and X20 Plus

A few days ago, Vivo unveiled two new smartphones in China, sporting 6-inch 18:9 displays, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processors, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and Android Nougat – the Vivo X20 and Vivo X20 Plus. But what else do these phones have to offer? Find out below.

6.01″ & 6.43″ 18:9 displays

Like the Vivo V7+ that recently launched in the Philippines, the Vivo X20 and X20 Plus feature a slim bezel design with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. While the V7+ features a 5.99″ screen size and low HD resolution, the X20 and X20 Plus sports a larger 6.01″ and 6.43″ Super AMOLED screens, respectively. What’s good about this is Vivo used a higher resolution at 2160 x 1080, giving us a good pixel density of 402ppi for the X20 and 376ppi for the X20 Plus, which is an indication that it’s good for watching videos, viewing photos, and gaming.

Snapdragon 660, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage

The Vivo X20 and X20 Plus are powered by one of Qualcomm’s newest high-tier mobile SoCs, the Snapdragon 660. The chip features a Kryo 260 CPU, Adreno 512 GPU, X12 modem, 2×2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. It is then paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded via microSD card slot. That said, the X20 and X20 Plus can handle heavy tasks including multitasking and gaming.

12MP + 5MP rear cameras

Vivo made the X20 and X20 Plus camera-centric by equipping it with dual rear cameras, consisting of a 12MP f/1.8 primary and a 5MP secondary. It can produce images with up to 24MP resolution and can shoot subjects with artificially blurred backgrounds with the help of the secondary sensor. Selfies, on the other hand, are handled by a 12MP shooter with a Beauty feature.

Face unlock

The face unlock feature has been around for a while now but it’s good to see it coming to mid-range devices. The Vivo V7+ has this feature as well which it calls the Face ID. What it does is it scans your face and uses it as a biometric security feature. Vivo says that it can detect 128 different facial features and can unlock the device as short as 0.1s. If you don’t feel like using this feature, the X20 and X20 Plus still has the trusty fingerprint scanner located at the back.

AK4376A Hi-Fi Audio Chip

Like the V7+, the X20 and X20 Plus supports Hi-Fi audio with its AK4376A audio chip. What this means is that you’ll get good-sounding audio from the said devices granted that you’re playing a high-quality audio file and using a good pair of headphones or external speaker.

Above average battery capacity

Most smartphones in the market go for average battery capacities at 3,000mAh. The X20 and X20 Plus goes beyond that at 3,250mAh and 3,900mAh, respectively. For comparison with the most popular devices on the market, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is at 3,000mAh, the Galaxy S8+ at 3,500mAh, LG G6 at 3,300mAh, Huawei P10 at 3,200mAh, Huawei P10 Plus at 3,750mAh, and the OnePlus 5 at 3,300mAh. The closest competitor is the SD660-packed OPPO R11 Plus at 4,000mAh. That said, Vivo’s latest devices are looking good in the battery capacity department. No mention of Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 though considering the SoC supports it.

And that sums it up. So what do you guys think of the Vivo X20 and X20 Plus? Should Vivo bring it to the Philippines? Let us know in the comments below.
