Apple topped the global smartphone market in Q4 2019
According to the global industry analysis firm Counterpoint, Apple gained the top spot in the global smartphone market during Q4 of 2019. The report also indicated that Huawei became the second-largest brand of 2019.
Apple’s launch of the iPhone 11 series boosted the smartphone company to the top spot in Q4 2019. For the first time since September 2018, the iPhone’s revenues were up by 11% year-on-year, despite not having a 5G variant. The report details that the dual-cameras and the iPhone 11’s lower pricing than the XR helped its sales.
Additionally, Counterpoint also noted that Huawei has become the second-largest brand of 2019, surpassing Apple. The report mentions that Huawei achieved almost 40% market share in China and that China accounted for 60% of Huawei’s total shipments. Samsung, on the other hand, secured its top spot as the largest brand of 2019. Rounding up the top five brands were Xiaomi and OPPO in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
