As a part of Facebook’s efforts in protecting their services from abuse, the social media giant has removed a number networks they have flagged as spam, consisting of fan pages and accounts in the Philippines.
A total of 95 pages and 39 accounts were removed from Facebook for violating the company’s spam and authenticity policies, by encouraging users to visit “low quality” websites that contain little substantive content and are full of disruptive ads. The report states that these networks comprise of political and entertainment content, but all share links to the same advertising click farms.

Facebook said that at least 4.8 million users followed one of the 95 Pages. They also stated that they are using a number of tools to detect bad behavior and take action faster. These include reports from the community, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
