Globe reminds users of SIM registration deadline with ECB system

Globe has used the Emergency Cell Broadcast (ECB) system to remind users of the deadline.

Globe Emergency Cell Broadcast System

implemented the emergency blast within allowable bounds using the ECB as part of network management. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has not voiced any concerns over the usage of ECB following prior notification. The Free Mobile Disaster Alerts Act enables the NDRRMC and other appropriate government organizations to use the telco network system to broadcast alerts during disasters and emergencies.

This action was taken by Globe in an effort to push its customers to register their SIMs in order to prevent the deactivation of their mobile services.

According to telecom company, mobile users who lack connectivity would suffer since they won’t have access to services that are necessary for, among other things, transportation, deliveries, healthcare, education, and financial transactions.

Users of mobile devices that withdraw from mobile services are also deprived of official government advisories, including disaster alerts.

“We are at a critical time as the deadline draws near, and we want to ensure that our customers are compliant with the law to avoid SIM deactivation. This way, they will continue to enjoy our call, text and data services for their day-to-day needs,” said by CEO and President of Globe Group Ernest Cu.

Out of its 86.7 million customers, Globe had recorded more than 35.8 million SIM registrations as of April 22. Globe urges its customers to register their SIM cards, even as it requests that the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) prolong the registration deadline past April 26.

An extension of up to 120 days is permitted by the SIM Registration Act’s Implementing Rules and Regulations.

The registration of its consumers is something that Globe is still working to improve. Customers can simply seek assistance with their SIM registration needs thanks to the conversion of 147 stores and 25 EasyHubs into help centers. Additionally, the business has established aided registration booths in more than 100 locations across the country in collaboration with local government agencies, supermarkets, and shopping centers.

Globe regularly participates in SIM Registration Caravans conducted by the National Telecommunications Commission since January in order to reach users in outlying locations. Regardless of location, these initiatives seek to offer all subscribers convenient and accessible registration options.

SIM registration is free and can be done anytime and anywhere through the website and the GlobeOne app for users of Globe and TM Prepaid SIMs and Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi. Postpaid subscribers may complete their registration by sending SIMREG to 8080 to confirm their details. For company-owned Globe Business accounts, registration steps have been sent to your company’s authorized representative.
