Manila City Jail launches eDalaw System

Due to the enhanced community quarantine imposed, jail visits are also banned nationwide.

As a temporary remedy, Manila City Jail has launched an electronic dalaw program. With e-dalaw, Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) may now communicate with their loved ones via video conferencing. All PDLs are allowed to avail of the e-dalaw, so they can be assured that their loved ones are safe from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Manila City Jail has ten e-dalaw units available, and PDLs are limited to 15-20 minutes to allow others to connect with their loved ones. The e-dalaw system is facilitated by the Welfare and Development System. There’s a schedule in place to give all PDLs a chance to use the e-dalaw units.

Currently, there is no reported Person Deprived of Liberty that is under investigation for COVID-19.
