Microsoft releases Windows 11 globally

Microsoft is officially rolling out Windows 11 globally starting today, October 5, 2021. It will roll out as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11.

According to the company, new eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The Windows 11 upgrade will then roll out to in-market devices “based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and other factors.”

Those who have a Windows 10 PC eligible for the upgrade will be notified when the update is available. Users may also check if Windows 11 is ready for their device by going to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates*.
