Microsoft Visual Studio Online browser-based web companion now official

Microsoft has launched its newest web-based companion editor under the Visual Studio family — the Visual Studio Online.

The Visual Studio Online, named after the previous Microsoft hub which was later named to Azure DevOps, is an online code editor that compliments the Visual Studio family where you can access your Visual Studio projects remotely. Users can easily edit, review, access functionalities with this editor. An example would be editing a web application in the browser (check the demo video here). It is based on the Visual Studio Code so users will immediately feel the familiarity with the ecosystem of extensions.

In the future, Visual Studio Online will support IntelliCode and Live Share out-of-the-box which ensures developers’ needs on productivity features. No word yet on when it will roll out as it is at a private preview mode for now but here is their website link that you can access once it is made public.
