I’ve been staying here in Malaysia and Motorola never left the shores even though the reception is a bit of a lackluster.

I bought the 1st and 2nd gen Moto X (officially) but sold them for one reason – CAMERA.

It’s pretty unacceptable for a highend phone (such as Moto X 2nd gen) to have a pretty average camera.

I will STILL buy Motorola phones (diehard fan here) and may STILL sell them but I’m pretty much happy that Motorola (err.. Lenovo) is still alive and kicking.

Going by the rumors na 1GB lang ang RAM ng Moto G 2015, their bestselling line, masa-snob lang sila dito sa PH pag nagkataon. Sa Zenfone 2 pa lang e laos na sila. Halos wala na silang brand recall dito, di na gagana ang overpricing para sa gimped specs.

If they want to be successful here, they better bring their A-Game. Hind nila pede mabebenta ang surplus nilang Moto X/G/E/Turbo 2014 dito. I’m a Moto fan myself and I have high hopes. Kahit acquired na sila by Lenovo e their R&D is still based in the US.

Above average(not necessarily extravagant) specs+good build quality+trusted brand name+affordable price point+availability=sure fire hit. Motorola needs to see this market trend today in the ph. Gone are the days of overpriced paperweights with lousy specs. More people are becoming aware of the rewards of having a bang for the buck phone.

lol… i see motorola wants to lose more money.

Yung droid turbo at moto g series ang top quality nila. Tama lang yan para mas maraming choices at mas bumaba angmark up ng ibang flagship phones sa mga authorized sellers.

Hopefully they learned their lesson. Provide affordable phones or be left behind by the competition <3

Motorola US pa kasi ang may hawak sa kanila noon. Ngayong nabenta na ang motorola sa lenovo mas makakapag expand na ang marketing nila.

Bang-for-the-buck or die. I mean, seriously, this market treats smartphones practically like desktops, and would build them piecemeal if they could.

More people are wiling to do research and are increasingly indifferent to brands or some fuzzy and nigh-useless concept of “the experience”. As the number of technically inclined increase, so does the ethos of cost-performance.

i respectfully disagree. i used to be a spec-cruncher too. now i would rather go for a 720p phone with polished software than a QHD phone with wifi problems or radio issues. specs are important, but only a part of the equation.

i do agree na bang-for-the-buck phones are really great for consumers, pero if it consistently drops calls, has a washed out camera, or has a weak radio that drains the battery fast, wouldn’t you agree that it makes using the phone irritating? hence “the experience” where a phone delivers on everything it says wonderfully and reliably, making it a joy to use.

@lol Great point. If you got the extra dough, flagships are a wise investment in the long run. Because manufacturers put a great deal of effort in the design and performance of their flagships. Just look at apple, htc, lg and other well known brands…their flagships are a sight to behold. Then again midrangers are fine as long as they deliver on the overall experience just like you said.

Motorola, Google, Samsung, or Apple employee, I take it?

“The experience” is a lame marketing excuse for any company that cannot deliver a solid product to begin with. Many users are have enough know-how these days to heavily customize their gear and prefer to do so (obviously against the wishes of the makers), surprisingly even the Apple crowd. You have a bad experience? Blame your own lack of research and lack of desire to learn how to do things yourself.

We haven’t even gotten to the fact that hardware, especially these days, is moving so fast that whatever flagship you’re toting now is going to be obsolete in months if not weeks (see Elephone et. al.) While you can most certainly keep slapping 30k-40kphp every month to stay on the edge, you’d wouldn’t be be the brightest bulb on the planet for doing so, and everyone around you will notice.

      TL;DR, nice try, marketing dept.

    • Avatar for lol lol says:

HAHAHA marketing department na pala ako ngayon. gee i’d wish employee nga ako nila, sadly i’m still unemployed.

should i blame myself for my bad experience with a nexus 4 because it just didn’t work out of the box? back in 2012 it was a really bang for the buck phone, flagship specs, beastly internals at almost half the price of other flagships. but the battery craps out because LG didn’t outfit it with a good radio. and google didn’t optimize its wifi drivers. in short, tinipid at minadali.

see, phones should flawlessly work out of the box. if a user wants to customize it to his liking, then good for him because he bought it. if you’ll say there a a ton of fixes for a phone’s problems at xda, you are partly right. but a bad radio or any hardware problem cannot be solved through a software fix. pero a user should never have to fix a phone just because it doesn’t work as it should. and all of that is part of the “experience” of using a phone, good or bad hardware AND software.

like i said, polished 720p phone > rushed QHD phone.

well all i can say is lenovo sucks! by the way i’m a former employee of lenovo mobile. low specs for a high price? F*CK!
