Xiaomi to recall select Mi Electric Scooters
Xiaomi has announced that it will recall a select number of Mi Electric Scooters after discovering that there is a loose screw in the apparatus that could potentially harm the users.
The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter model M365 will be recalled as there is a loose screw in the folding apparatus that potentially causes the vertical component to separate from the main body while in use. A total of 10,257 units that were produced from October 27, 2018, to December 5, 2018, are affected by this.
Xiaomi stated that users should stop using the scooters until they know if their units are part of the recall. They are also discouraging people to fix the loose screw issue on their own. To know if your scooter is affected by the recall, check on the bottom part of the main body and look for the Serial Number located in the sticker there. Here are the serial numbers that are affected by the issue:
- 21074/00000316 to 21074/00015107
- 16133/00541209 to 16133/00544518
You can check in their website (click here) to know if the serial number is included in the recall. After inputting the serial number and if your device is part of the product safety recall program, you will immediately receive a prompt asking you to enter your email address. After 72 hours, you will receive an information with regards to the repair of your Mi Electric Scooter for free.
The recall program will start on June 26, 2019, for the United Kingdom while other markets will start on July 1, 2019.
