ASUS ZenBook Pro (UX550) First Impressions

For those looking for a ZenBook that packs more muscles, ASUS has released that ZenBook Pro (UX550) which packs up to 7th-gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor and gaming-grade NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 Ti graphics. Check our-our initial thoughts about the new notebook below.

The ZenBook Pro carries the best of both worlds when it comes to aesthetics and performance. For one, it features a 15.6-inch FHD/4K UHD NanoEdge display with slim bezels, for a screen-to-body ratio of 83%, and 100% sRGB color gamut.

Below the display is the full-size silver-backlit keyboard with 1.5mm travel and a glass-covered precision touchpad which features palm-rejection technology and supports multi-touch gestures and handwriting. Also housed here is the fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello. Located on the left and right-hand sides, as well as underneath, are the Harman/Kardon quad speakers with Smart Amp.

When it comes to connectivity, the left-side houses the DC-Jack, HDMI, and two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports. On the right are the Audio Jack, MicroSD card slot, and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports.

Powering the device is an Intel Core i5/i7 H-series processor, up to NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti GPU, up to 16GB RAM, up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 x 4 SSD, a battery that can last 14 hours and can fast charge to 60% in 49 minutes, and Windows 10.

Like the rest of the ZenBook notebooks, the ZenBook Pro is also clad in aluminum, and while it packs more hardware, it’s still relatively thin at 19.2mm while weighing in at 2.2kg.
