I had the HP Mini 311 for about a year before it was bought by a friend. I loved its design but wanted something better than what Atom can offer. If only HP could do a Core 2 Duo or Athlon Neo version. Turns out the HP Pavilion dm1 is the one.

Hp Pavillion Dm1 • Hp Pavilion Dm1: The Mini 311 Gets An Upgrade

Realme Philippines

HP Pavilion dm1 specs:
11.6” HD LED @ 1366×768 pixels
AMD Athlon II Neo Dual-Core K325 (1.3GHz, 2MB L2)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD4225 Graphics
3GB DDR3 800MHz (Max 5GB)
320GB SATA HDD 7200rpm
External Super Multi DVD+/-RW DL Drive
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
0.3MP webcam
Card Reader
1 x HDMI port
3 x USB ports
6-cell Li-Ion battery

Th unit weighs a bit heavy at 1.47kg and the 6-cell battery promises up to 5 hours on a single charge (though I doubt it can do 4 hours in real world situations).

The unit comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and MS Office Starter 2010. The HP Pavilion dm1 is not widely available locally but gray market prices puts it at Php38,000. Yeah, quite expensive but I remember getting my HP Mini 311 for Php31,000 before.

This is a lemon.

I am sending it back today.

– Battery last no more than 3 hours.
– The touch pad is very bad.
– The fan is loud and always on.

There is no way of liking this laptop. I would not even buy it for 100 USD. I paid it about 850 USD.

I bought it because the retailer wrote as the main selling point that the battery last 9 hours. They’d better not cause me problem with the refund, because I’ll screw them.

The price is not that worth it.. For one, the unit will not last 4 Hours on batt.. The HP Mini 311 only lasted for 3 hours since AMD processors use alot of power.. Secondly, for a 11 incher will you waste 40K for it? if it was a 13″ one, I might… for the same price you can buy a core i3/i5 laptop with powerful graphics card.

Sayang talaga..

Way too overpriced, I would rather bought a CULV netbook than this one.

@Abe Olandres – a 8-hr battery life is an upgrade to a 4-hr battery life, sans the brand.

touché?

My, you really have to be careful on what you say on this blog since there is always someone who would correct you. My thoughts: I think this is a nice upgrade over a single core (processor) but the price is a bit prohibitive. I have had an ASUS 1000HE for more than a year and I plan to “upgrade” to a netbook that’s faster and better looking. Any suggestions Mr. Yuga?

so amd is an upgrade to intel? be careful coz your loyal followers might agree with you and ditch intel…

so i disagree that this replaces that model but another product line. intel atom is designed as a low-power solution for limited task that will be offered maybe in 3-5yrs time; and i’m sure you know the word “diversity”.

can you compare this MSI U250. seems like they have the same processor and similar specs. although the price tag makes the difference.
