Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 announced

So that’s why they’re having a sale on the 1st-gen Samsung Galaxy Tab — Samsung has officially announced an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab that’s even thinner than the previously announced 10.1 incher.

What’s another surprise is that they’ve re-worked the 10.1″ Tab along with the 8.9″. These 2 new Galaxy Tabs are even lighter and thinner (that’s 8.6mm thin) than the recently announced iPad 2.

It’s powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, and comes with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, microSD card slot, 3MP camera that can do 720p and a 2nd 2MP front-facing camera for video calls.

The 8.9″ Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet will retail for $469PHP 27,523INR 39,748EUR 447CNY 3,414 (16GB) and $569PHP 33,392INR 48,223EUR 542CNY 4,141 (32GB) for the WiFi-only models.

  1. Damn, and when I am almost 100% sure of getting the ipad2, a game changer has just arrived! at a few $ off the ipad2, the 8.9 boasts a MP front cam and a 12800 x 800 res, I am now double thinking my intentions of getting an ipad 2.

Oh, the thinner and lighter feature is also a big + IMO. If this gets to Philippines earlier than the ipad2, then sorry apple, I think you will lose a lot of supposed to be ipad2 buyers.

  2. @Messie so you’re going for the new Galaxy Tab now? :-) Not sure about iPad2 but the first iPad is heaaavy…

I’m wondering how much Samsung would cut the price off 1st gen galaxy tabs…

  3. Mas ideal talaga 7 inch madali hawakan lalo na pag nkahiga. In sure nasa 35k up na nmn price nito. Ok nako sa SGT7 at 20k phone/tablet.

  4. wahahaha oo nga!

  5. Gamechanger!

  6. Yep, this is a game changer! When Samsung first showed the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the MWC 2011, grabe di ko talaga type yung back/cover ng Tab! Pero ngayon, wow it does not look cheap at all! :-D I’m planning to get Motorola XOOM pa naman.. pero based sa nakikita ko ngayon, I would consider getting this one instead. :))

  7. Ay, ayaw ko na iPad 2. Hintay na lang ako Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. Kailan ba talaga, kuya? At ako ay bibili.

  8. The only thing that strikes me as interesting about the new Tab is that Samsung opted to release a Wifi-only version first before the more expensive 3G-equipped model. It’s a good call on their part. They should’ve done this with the 7″.

  9. Man, that looks so slick. Still liking ipad2

  10. Just when Apple thought they already have the thinnest tablet on the market, Samsung surprises them from nowhere.

I like Samsung’s move especially the CEO’s comment regarding the iPad2 launch saying that the MWC Galaxy Tab 10.1 was inadequate compared to the new iPad. But then come March 22… BOOM!

World’s thinnest and comes in two form factors!

In yar fez Apple. I bet Steve is mad right now.

  11. Visit http://www.MurangGADGETS.com I brought Samsung Galaxy Tab from that online store and it was cool. I now have my Gadget at a very low price.

  13. Hahaha Steve Jobs was so proud of the thin iPad 2 then this comes along even thinner its like a big fu@%k you! too Steve lolol

  14. Wow.. mukhang ito na bilhin ko kaysa ipad2…

  15. ang hirap namang mamili.

  16. Wow, you’ll have second thought of buying an Ipad 2 if you the specs on this 2 tabs.

  17. what I really like in Samsung Galaxy tab is you can view sites with flash. I can view live stream if I want. Beats iPad2. :)

  18. can’t wait to see your review for these new models when they come out.

On a side note, can anyone verify if it’s possible to use tablets like iPads and Galaxy Tabs as PC monitors? This could make an interesting alternative setup to laptops, with a tablet that would be more mobile than a laptop to carry around throughout the day and a robust desktop CPU waiting at home.

  19. ang 3g po na version ng GT8.9 eh meron din pong phone features like sa GT7?

  20. wow! may wifi version na ang galaxy tab sa cmk! 15,999 lang :))

  21. when is galaxy tab 2 will be release in the Philippines?

  22. wow, i am thinking to buy a tablet…

  23. I saw at CMK site…they are aready selling SG7 at 16k wifi only.

I am thinking of getting one…but I prefer the SG7 with sim support…so that I don’t have to bring 2 units.

  24. meh id rather get an LG Gslate/Optimus pad

  25. wala talagang phone feature ang 8.9 at 10.1? thanks

  26. may sale ang samsung ngayon. all galaxy products

  27. hi! which of the two is better samsung galaxy tab p1000 the 7inch tab or the new samsung galaxy tab 8.9?

  28. I went thru some specs about the 8.9 tablet of samsung and it mentioned about a SIM slot. meaning, pwede ang call and text application;

  29. you can check at PLDT-Smart Jump regarding the 8.9 they have a display unit of the 8.9 there

  30. Hello, i think that i saw you visited my web site so i came
to go back the want?.I am trying to find issues to improve my site!I assume its good enough to make use of some of your ideas!!
