Slack AI promises user-centric changes, addresses app issues

Slack AI is here, promising user-centric changes modeled after new generative AI tools.

In a recent blog post , Slack is aiming to improve searching for old messages and documents. The AI update provides users with citations to relevant messages based on your company’s public communications and personal conversations.

Slack has been notorious for having a perplexing means of searching for old messages. Slack AI can help users who can’t think of exact terms to use in the search bar with smart suggestions.

Besides the search bar fixes, the new features can also help users summarize long conversations and channel recaps. This is a great change for professionals who need to catch up on work post-leave.

Slack noted that their new AI features are only available as a paid add-on for Enterprise plans. They noted that other plans are coming soon, but without specifying the price for their services.

This is a bold move by the company, as other companies have also showcased their own AI-centric tools this year.

So far, we have Microsoft with Copilot Pro, their generative AI assistant built-in-tandem with OpenAI. Next, we have Grok from Elon Musk for his platform X. And just recently, Google with their AI model rebrand Gemini.

We also can’t forget about OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as this year looks to be centered on generative AI innovation.
