Seagate Seven Unveiled, 7mm-thin Portable Hard Drive

Seagate has certainly come a long way since they released the first mass produced 5.25-inch HDD 35 years ago. And to celebrate this milestone, the storage giant has announced two new portable hard drives, one of which is the Seagate Seven which, as its name implies, is a svelte 500GB portable hard drive that only measures 7mm thick on the sides.

Seagate has basically shaved as much as excess fat as possible to keep the Seven’s form factor to a minimum. This resulted in to an ultra-thin, metal-bound hard drive that’s even thinner than an iPhone 6 Plus.

Dubbed as the “world’s slimmest portable hard drive” by its maker, the Seagate Seven supports USB 3.0 and backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports. It will only be available in one capacity (500GB), and will set you back USD99 a pop when it hit the shelves later this month.
