Barely two days after Google unveiled their very first generic notebook powered by the Chrome OS and people are already getting some test units after signing up in their Pilot Program.
Not much has been revealed about the laptop except that it’s a nameless 12.1″ unit with an Intel Atom processor inside. WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity is present and Google claims up to 8 hours of battery life.
We have a limited number of Chrome notebooks to distribute, and we need to ensure that they find good homes. That’s where you come in. Everything is still very much a work in progress, and it’s users, like you, that often give us our best ideas about what feels clunky or what’s missing. So if you live in the United States, are at least 18 years old, and would like to be considered for our small Pilot program, please fill this out. It should take about 15 minutes. We’ll review the requests that come in and contact you if you’ve been selected.
This application will be open until 11:59:59 PM PST on December 21, 2010.
You can still sign-up here.
Update: It’s actually just for US residents. However, I still tried applying via the MyUSMailBox service I hold.
The laptop looks like yung mga binebenta sa V-mall na brandless laptop…yep it looks like Macbook talaga.
Ayus! They are giving away this just to test the software. Heheheh ayus ha!
I think the laptop cost around 14k at Compex…if yan nga yung unit ne benta nila…well sympre NO CHROME OS pa yun hehehehe
i think chrome os is free coz its a linux derivative (opensource).. but incase its paid cheaper un.. lalot may xandros os rin na paid.
pero ung chromium os (from google rin pero iba nag mamaintain) libre lng may mga builds na na pwede gamitin sa laptop yata.
Wanted to sign up upon seeing the invitation email. Alas, after reading “So if you live in the United States”, I knew I was SOL.
Good for those with US shipping addresses. Hope you get your Chrome Notebooks. :)
I still find it odd that Google replaced the CAPSLOCK key with a search key (hotkeyed to google)
I have a niece in FL, just signed her up for this. ;) hopefully she wins..

Nobody from the Philippines, that’s for sure.
It’s only open for US residents only.
I did, I even got an email (before even signing up) that I’m eligible for a Chrome Notebook :) Waiting for shipping :)
I signed up last night. Suntok sa buwan lang, malay mo naman. :-)
For US residents lang pala to, sayang naman.
Nakalagay sa terms and coditions:
“I understand that Google will only ship the device to a US-based address and cannot send this device to a P.O. Box or address outside of the US.”
@rob, @avid0n3 – just so happened I also have a US shipping address. Use MYUSMailBox.
Dati ko pa ‘to nabalitaan… muntik na akong magsign-up e pero nabasa kong pang US residents lang ito. BTW, itong post na ‘to ay para lang ata dun sa mga taga-US na nagbabasa ng Yugatech blog.
“So if you live in the United States, are at least 18 years old, and would like to be considered for our small Pilot program, please fill this out.”–It’s for the US only.
yep di tayo pwede dyan… ma trace ip natin…anyway tara sa tate hehe.
Yes! Hope I’ll be selected. Is it really open for Philippines? It requires a to select a state in US.
Wow! A new OS! Hope it’s more affordable than Microsoft OS.
nakatanggap ako email.. pero for US citizens lang ata ito eh
