Nikon introduced a new entry-level dSLR, the Nikon D3100, which has the capability of recording full HD 1080p videos.
The Nikon D3100 is the successor to the popular D3000 line and brings in a set of new features and upgrades.
Nikon D3100
14.2 CMOS sensor
ISO 100 – 3200 (expandable to 12800)
up to 3fps shooting speed
Full HD (1920×1080) @ 24fps
3″ LCD display
Live View
11-point AF system
EXPEED 2 image processing engine
Dual Integrated Dust Reduction System
SD card (SDHC- and SDXC-compliant)
The estimated $USD699 price tag seemed reasonable and it might catch up with Canon’s EOS 550D in the HD video department. The Nikon D3100 will come with a AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR as the kit lens.

WOW! Finally, last month I can’t dicide which cam to buy. I’m eying for the Nikon d90,d5000 or Canon 550d, but now as Nikon d3100 arrived, difinitely this is the one I will be buying.

anu ba mga disadvantages ng d3100 over d5000?
AF motor would make the body more expensive.
I agree with Teknisyan, would still prefer the Nikon D5000 over the new D3100 due to:
4fps continuous shooting (3fps only in D3100)
Active-D lighting (only On/Off in D3100)
Swivel LCD
“the camera focuses continuously during movie recording” ——- sounds great!
from Nikon site:
In addition, the camera also offers an AF-F (full-time servo AF) focus mode for movie recording. When AF-F mode is enabled, the camera focuses continuously during movie recording without the need for holding the shutter-release button down halfway. The D3100 also offers in-camera movie editing functions that allow users to save a single frame as a still image or delete unnecessary portions from the beginning or end of movie files.
Nice for would be photographers… but I’d still go for the Nikon D5000. :)
walang motor yan entry level e.
mgknu po to>?
But still no AF motor?:(
wow.mukhang taob na un canon nito ah. good camera and good video from nikon. amazing!!!
Finally, an entry-level dSLR from Nikon with HD video capabilities.
