Apparently, the burglars were using social networking sites like Facebook to scout for homes to target (that's how effective Facebook Places is). The combination of Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare could be enough to profile you -- FB profile photos for identification (most probably a photo of your car as well), Twitter updates for current activity and FourSquare to identify location. Facebook Places isn't available in the Philippines but I'm seeing a growing number of people (including me) using FourSquare to broadcast their locations to the public. This isn't an unlikely scenario at all -- I've heard of many victims that went thru this same exact M.O and the culprits didn't have Facebook or FourSquare as accessory to the crime then. Facebook is launching a new game, Your Profile, Your Home where users can build their own virtual home on Facebook and learn how to personalize their account based on their preferences. Through the game users can learn more about the settings of Facebook such as Privacy settings, Advertiser preferences, and security settings. Through Your Profile, Your Home, Facebook hopes that users will have an easy way to find out just how safe and secure their profiles are. Meta has announced the global rollout of new subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, adding paid features across its social media and messaging platforms.
