Meet Team YugaTech
YugaTech.com is the largest and longest-running technology site in the Philippines. Originally established in October 2002, the site has been transformed into a full-fledged technology site in 2005.
YugaTech mainly covers consumer electronics, tech news, social media, automotive, tech policy and provides in-depth reviews of the most popular devices released in the market with special focus on the Philippine landscape.
The team regularly attends and covers all major tech events in the work, including the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and Shanghai, IFA in Berlin, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Computex in Taiwan and the North American Auto Show in Detroit along with most of the major global product launches.
The site generates over 2.4 million page views a month from close to 900,000 unique visitors per month.
It has a very active and engaging social media presence with an average of 1 million weekly exposure from over 260,000 fans on Facebook. YugaTech has consistently been the No. 1 tech site in the country for the past 12 years.

Abe “The Boss” Olandres – Founder and Editor-in-Chief
Abe has been blogging since 2000 and founded YugaTech in 2002. He is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University with a BS in Chemistry and Computer Engineering. He’s been to several countries (Germany, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan) moderating seminars/workshops on blogging and new media (complete list of talks/workshops here). He also has a weekly column with the Philippine Star called You Got Tech and occasionally contributes to the magazine, 2.0 Opinion.
John Louie Diangson – Managing Editor
Louie studied Electrical Engineering but found writing and consumer tech more exciting. He then combined those two interests and became a tech blogger instead. He has been writing for YugaTech since 2012. When not reviewing gadgets or covering tech events here and abroad, he’s a full-time husband and dad, and gamer on the side.
Carl Lamiel – Senior Contributor
Carl graduated from CIIT College of Arts in Technology with a degree in Multimedia Arts, majoring in Graphic Design last 2015. With his passion for technology and his avid YugaTech reading since 2012, Carl joined in as an intern in 2014 before becoming a senior correspondent and is oftentimes on the lookout for the metro’s best gadget deals and device releases. He also writes a regular column called Fast Five, showcasing curated lists of everything and anything tech.
Alyza Angeles – Multimedia Producer
Alyza is a Communication graduate from Lyceum of the Philippines – Laguna last May 2017. Despite being a comm graduate, she’s no talker and finds herself more interested in doing technical works such as video editing and color grading and has long been a tech enthusiast. Her hobbies include skipping music when the chorus ends, buying books she’ll never read, and grabbing every opportunity there is to sleep.
Vaughn “Hackerman” Chua – Editorial Assistant and Programmer
Vaughn is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at University of the Philippines – Los Baños. He and Zen are former college housemates turned YugaTech teammates. His skills in tracing and finding certain things that are hidden to most people have earned him the title of “Hackerman” of the team. He also loves discovering new technologies and playing video games. He currently handles the interactions in Social Media accounts of YugaTech. On top of that, he creates articles, mainly comparisons, mostly requested by the readers in the Ask YugaTech section.
Zen Estacio – Multimedia Producer
Zen is a graduate of BS Human Ecology at University of the Philippines – Los Baños. He is a former roommate turned teammate of Hackerman (Vaughn). Though a researcher by passion and by profession, he is now pursuing his greater love – Technology. He is well-known to his friends as a happy go lucky gamer and the go-to guy for anything tech. Apart from that, he is a Full-time lover, brother, and son.
Joey Maceda – Multimedia Producer
Joey graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking from the De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde last March 2017. A filmmaker by heart, he has since put the camera aside to focus on his other passion, technology. PC’s, mechanical keyboards, audio, cameras, and gaming are among his biggest tech interests.
Ustin “No Filter” Nuyda – Multimedia Producer
Ustin graduated with a degree in Multimedia Arts from De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. He specializes in shooting and editing videos for the team. He loves cars and building model kits such as Gundam, Frame-arms, Zoids, and Tamiya kits. Since he loves travelling locally and internationally, he is the perfect travel companion, especially on roadtrips.
Heland Ortega – Junior Contributor
Heland is a bachelor’s graduate of Information Technology and Multimedia Arts at FEU Institute of Technology in where he is also now finishing his masters degree and working as a full-time faculty teaching computer programming, digital design, video production and software development. He produces and edits some of the video productions of YugaTech and writes anything tech related during his free time. You can follow him at @helandortega.
Kim Nicole Valle – Business Development and Video Host
Kim may be a nursing graduate from UCL but she has an effective way of reaching out to people and influencing them by doing what she loves — talking about stuff she’s interested in. She also loves traveling to new places in the Philippines. She’s the golden voice behind YugaTech’s YouTube videos, and also doubles as the team’s business development manager to further build the brand if she’s not posing for the hottest devices in town.
