Globe to drop PowerSurf for GoSurf

Some of the initial releases (Galaxy S5 and Spotify press releases) and sources close to Globe have confirmed that the telco will be overhauling their data plans — completely dropping both SuperSurf and PowerSurf promos in exchange for a unified GoSurf data plans.

We don’t have the complete details of the GoSurf plans but a few of them were also mentioned in their Galaxy S5 and Spotify pages.

GoSURF1010MB for 24 hours (free Spotify access, data not counted against quota)

GoSURF 299700MB for 30 days

GoSURF 9995,000MB for 30 days

It is likely that once you reach your 5GB limit for the 999 plan, you can just subscribe again for another 5GB after that or any of the lower-tier GoSurf plans.

The old PowerSurf plans were more expensive (Php99 for 50MB, Php299 for 300MB and Php499 for 1GB).

The new GoSurf is very similar to PowerSurf while SuperSurf will be completely removed from the offering. This concretely enforces the telco’s move to shift to volume based pricing instead of time-based charging (thus obliterating the whole issue on data caps).

Globe will probably make the formal announcement on Monday next week.

Updated: @talk2globe has tweeted that they will not discontinue SuperSurf plans to current subscribers. We’ve updated our story to reflect this.

Sa lahat ng net users wag kaya tau magnet as using buwan o kahit week man lang. Tinfnan natin at nibigay son mga gahaman name telcos na into. Sa NTC naman bakit do ninyo utusan mga telcos na ayusin service nila. Kampi pa yata sa kanila…kaiinis!

di ba dati 50 pesos for 24 hours or 800mb, 300 for 7 days (800mb per day limit) at 999 for 30 days (with the same 800mb daily limit) so asan ang mura dyan? nagtaas na ang halaga ng internet sa pinas…

smart & globe user here and im not impressed with both their mobile internet service, lamang lang ng konti ang smart kasi minsan may lugar na mabilis internet ko sa iphone ko, pero madalas full bar signal facebook lang di mabuksan… paying 2k for my monthly subscription is kind of a waste…

This would be Ok if the service is reliable. Tsk. Well sorry Globe Users.. I guess now you want to “LIVE MORE”

Okay na sana, kaso tinanggal pa yung unlimited 2G. WTF. haha

Well, choice niyo na yan. 3GB + Unlimited 2G wherein pwede pa kayong makapag-check man lang ng e-mail while on the go. Or 5GB tapos icha-charge ka na ng Globe ng P5/15 mins. of browsing. hahaha!

Well, expensive if you’re going to compare it to other countries. But so far, I believe it is the cheapest in the country. I’ve been managing may data usage so that I can maximize each kB.

I really hate Globe when they had the FUP thing. It was like false advertising. But I have to admit it, this is a good move.

This is now fairer for me instead of FUP. Now people who actually use lot of data will pay for more. No more limited unlimited, no more deception. Pay for what you use.

Basta I don’t have problems with my prepaid data subscription sa Smart at P999.00/mo. It’s UNLIMITED maski umabot pa ako ng 4GB of downloads a day.

i think this is fair for users and much clearer.

Let us just wait for Globe’s announcement instead of speculating. To be fair, GoSurf sounds exciting than FUP.

This is still expensive. If you create your promo thru 143 it’s 300php for 1gb for a month

    • Avatar for sam witwicky sam witwicky says:

Yeah, I’ve been doing this for months and it’s been so useful. I hope that one still survives, this GoSurf doesn’t really make me want to Go use it >_>

    • Avatar for Edgy Dulds Edgy Dulds says:

Agree! I also use *143# to get more than what existing plans have. Mas tipid pa kasi mas mura sa existing promo at may dagdag pa texts or calls.

    • Avatar for Anon Anon says:

Yeah, mas ok nga sa *143# Go Sakto. Mas mura kung gagawin mong combo (500 mins call, 250 sms, 1GB data plan).

    • Avatar for dave dave says:

this is just a strategy to stop downloading free music torrents.. if you are really trying to save up every buck, just download the music for free.. and stick to the cheaper internet promos thru go sakto.. you don’t really need spotify

  14. Avatar for Glenn Glenn says:

Well at least fair na for all. The old PowerSurf plans were more expensive pa nga eh.
