Smart vs Globe: Samsung Galaxy 4 Postpaid offering

Now that two giant telcos in the country has announced the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S4, we thought of giving you a better look at Smart and Globe’s postpaid offerings to help you decide if ever you’re interested in getting one.

Smart has pretty much kept the same pricing scheme that they have when they first offered the iPhone 5. The difference between the 16GB iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S4 in all of the available postpaid plans is just less than Php100. Here’s look at Smart’s Samsung Galaxy S4 Postpaid offering:

Now let’s look Globe’s which has gone a bit creative with their proposition than Smart. Apart from offering the flagship handset on different postpaid plans, Globe has also added different lock-in periods which make it easier for potential customers to choose the duration of their subscription. Here’s a look at Globe’s SGS4 deals:

To give you a better comparison of the two telcos’ offerings, we picked three almost-identically-priced postpaid plans and placed them side-by-side to see which has the more affordable offer. Here’s what we got:

smart globe comparison

As we’ve mentioned on our “Ultimate iPhone 5 Postpaid Shopping Guide”, choosing the right postpaid plans for you really depends on your needs as a user.

“Smart offers generous free minutes and free SMS for a number of their plans where the total value is often times higher than the MSF itself. This helps you maximize your use of their network.

On the other hand, Globe offers consumable amounts as a percentage of the MSF. They also offer some freebies depending on the plan (more attractive as the plan goes up).

If you already know your average monthly consumption with call minutes and SMS, Smart’s plan will give you more mileage.

If you are unsure about your usage pattern, Globe’s consumable gives you that flexibility to reallocate credits to other services.”

From what we’ve gathered so far, it seems that Globe’s got the better of Smart in terms of its SGS4 pricing. But not only is Globe’s offers are more affordable, we also liked the introduction of various lock-in periods which we think a lot of subscribers will like. How about you guys? What do you of Globe and Smart’s Samsung Galaxy S4 postpaid plans offer?

On a larger scale, globe has better aftersales support than smart. Smart will give you all the BS before addressing your issues

I had 2500 all in plan with smart espired May 11 2013. So I applied for Samsung G4 and was told no stocks here in Tacloban Leyte. So I tried hotline the would not give me a direct answer to my question about stocks on G4. Do anyone have a G4 here in the Philippines?

sir concern ko rin po is ang Plan 999 sa globe. i went to globe pero ang ginawa po noong customer service for 30 months duration ang 10,000 na cash out divided in 12 months lang… so i will pay daw for 12 months 999+834=1833.00.

di ba applicable yang computation ninyo for 30 months duration na 1,335?

ang offer nila ngayon is 24 months with monthly bill of 1599.00

    sir abe, say for instance

globe plan 999 with 30 months lock in period

yung cash out ba sa s4 which is 10100 eh isasama sa bill on a monthly amortization basis din for 30 months?

Let me give you an exact accounting of the plan 1799. (Let’s say you want to get the Iphone 5)
With plan 1799 = you will pay 1799 monthly and a cash out of 4,800 paid only once.
It is equivalent to P3,200 peso value minus the following:
minus 999 – for unli surf
    minus 600 – gadget value (iphone 5)
    ________________
remaining 1,601 – you can use this as a regular peso value or you may opt to choose any of the combos.

    Sample:from value 1,601
    minus 100×2 – ALL NET COMBO(5mins call + 100sms)
    minus 100×2 – ALL NET TXT(125sms)
    ___________________
remaining: 1,201 – you can use this as a regular peso value to call landline or any services, just make sure you dont exceed the 1,201 value.

Hello, ask ko lng di ba un Plan 1799 ng globe is my peso value na 3200, na para magamit mo sa call, txt & surf, eh ang gadget eh my PV value dn, ilan Peso Value ng S4? So ilan mababawas sa 3200 peso value ng plan 1799 if s4 kukunin? Thanks!

Bakit kaya di nila idisclose kung anong unit ang irerelease nila sa market, Quad-core o Octa-core? Capable naman daw ang pinas na magrelease ng quad-core at octa-core base sa SamMobile.

You forgot to add that Globe’s 1,599 Plan (999+14,400/24) offers unlimited LTE connection whereas, Smart’s Unlidata 1500 offers LTE until 30th of June only. If you want the Smart unlimited LTE connection it will be starting with the Unlidata 2000 plan.

  12. Avatar for Glen Glen says:

Diba 1,599 lang per month sa Globe? According to their Radio Ads?

  13. Avatar for Robin Lim Robin Lim says:

Globe Plan 1799 and Smart Data 2000 are pretty much identical. Globe offering is better, but I am sticking to Smart. I am not inclined to change my phone number.

Glad to see Globe’s offerings are getting more and more affordable. But must not be tempted…..will wait instead for the Note 3. Hopefully as affordable or cheaper.

  15. Avatar for Enya Enya says:

Globe has a better LTE signal in my place. So, going for Globe.

  16. Avatar for Benj Benj says:

Globe’s 299 offer for 6 months is good. after 6 months pwede mo na ipa-cut yung line mo then use the phone for prepaid.. para ka lang bumili ng bagong phone na 6 month to pay. mas mura pa kesa sa SRP nya…

  17. Avatar for JRBT JRBT says:

Sir, you might want to check out the ‘best ever my super plan’, refreshed plan scheme by globe. It basically gives the users more choices on the freebies using PVs or not get any freebies at all. I find the plan 999 very promising because if I am correct, you get unlimited internet there plus ~P700 worth of consumables that can be converted to the previous freebies.

    Check it out :)

    • Avatar for carlo carlo says:

That is correct. But Plan 999 with unli data and 701 worth of consumeables means no phone. Okay sya kung di mo kelangan ng phone.

  18. Avatar for Christine Christine says:

Even though pricing strategy of Globe is much better, I’ll still choose Smart because it has a more reliable connection.

  19. Avatar for andrei andrei says:

sir why did you include the cost of the phone divided in 24 months to the total monthly dues? can we get the plan with installment cash out on the phone itself?

    • Avatar for theSandies theSandies says:

with Globe you can get the cashout at 24 months via CC and choose your contract period from 6-30 months.
