10th Philippine Web Awards

The 10th Annual Philippine Web Awards (or the Webby’s) is now up and online. This will be the second year in a row that they’ve added Blogs in their list of categories. Last year’s winner was Noemi with her aboutmyrecovery.com blog along with my two other group blogs in the finals.

Again, this year’s Webbys will require a nomination fee — Php2,500 for each nominee except for blogs, organizations and and personal sites which is just Php250.

You think it’s still worth to join the PWA? Here’s my take on that.

It is ironic that they are honoring the best of Filipino-websites, but their own website is not functioning as expected and have wrong information.

I had the same problem as Manuel Villoria. I think there’s a bug in the PayEasy ordering system.

Tried paying online for “Personal” category… which is supposed to be Php250 (or US $5)… but the fee shown was always for the other categories — for $45 instead of $5.

… can’t find a contact e-mail on the site… Who to contact about inquiring about $?

so even if your site or blog is really the best there is but you didn’t pay to be nominated… you’re out?

I don’t think the result will represent the authentic meaning of what they say “Honoring the best Filipino-made web sites…”

Argh. Tried paying online for a site nominated under the “Blogs” category, and the fee shown was for $45 instead of $5.

I have heard of the Webbys when my college’s website (Mapua) won the award as best college website last year. Wait, was it the webbys or another web award?

I think I’ll go and read the contest mechanics before deciding if I’m going to nominate my blog or not.

Hmm.. could my month-old blog compete with other well established blog in the blogosphere? I don’t think so, but I think I could benefit from the exposure.
