Or some semblance thereof. If you’ve watched the recent advert on Colgate’s Fresh Confidence online video contest, you’ll realize they’re pushing the website to attract the millions of Filipino YouTubers.
The right ingredients are there — an online webcam-singing contest, huge cash prizes and giveaways, and a chance to be selected as one of the models in a Colgate commercial. Remember those popular Chinese boys lip synching the BackStreet Boys on YouTube?
This online contest should be very attractive to a growing number of Filipino YouTubers. It would have been better if they allow embedding of submitted videos on other sites, like blogs or Friendster. For now, visitors can share the videos via an email list form.
The Php100,000 cash prize and modeling contract has even piqued the interest of a professional TV host of the show GoNegosyo. I’m sure there will be more. Besides, it’s a cheap way to scout for some fresh talent.
Contest officially started last April 1 and will continue to receive submissions until May 31, 2008.
