Microsoft’s army of lawyers was no match for a kid from Kent State.

zamosFor the past four months, Zamos has been fighting four high-powered attorneys. They claimed he violated trademark and copyright laws by selling two unopened pieces of software on eBay for $203.50.

Cleveland lawyers Robert Chudakoff and Edward Simms, along with San Francisco lawyers Roy Bartlett and Cameron Alston, allege that the sale cost Microsoft hundreds of thousands of dollars in “irreparable damage.” They demanded that Zamos hand over his eBay profits ($143.50) and cover the company’s court costs and legal fees.

I’ve actually had a case before that was handled by my lawyer. It had to do with a book though. I didn’t do anything wrong, but of course Big corporations like Microsoft think that you will get scared off by their big name and poof, you pony up the bucks.

In the long run, you are actually better off letting it go, because legal costs usually will cost you more.

The lawyer that handled this case probably let go of the fees once this hit the media (more press for himself).

Love your blog Yuga. great reads all the time.. Just wanted to see your first post here.. who knew it would be about Microsoft..

Wahaha it was petty, it’s not Zamos’ fault that this small issue made it to the headlines.
