A former officemate told me earlier today that the UPS (un-interruptible power supply) we used back in our MBS days finally gave up this week. I was surprised to learn that the APC power supply lasted for more than 8 years.
I thought it was an amazing feat that the device lasted that long.
I’ve been using several brands of UPS at home but have not had the same luck with these power supplies. They mostly last just a year or two before they totally go bust.
Are any of you guys invest in really good UPS at home? Which ones do you use and how long do they last?
Hello everyone. Could you recommend which UPS should we use in a computer shop?
Thank you!
I’ve been using mine for years, bout 10 years now, APC Backup PRO 280 – works great until now. I’ve only changed the internal battery once about 4 years ago, it gave up… also connected two external UPS battery (48mAh) – gave me power for hours when power goes out, small load capacity though, bought another APC UPS, one with a higher capacity, 4 years and counting…
Mine bears the label Solaris. It has been with me for more than 2 years. In fact, I bought it from a friend as seconds which he described to me before as something like 2 years old. So I am counting 4 yours now for this UPS.
I use APC as well.
It’s nice!
Not sure how long it will last though.
Just bought it last June, I think!
had been using a fuzzy logic supreme since way back 2003 now i use it as a 24/7 power supply for my router for almost two years now and only get its rest from occasional black outs.
I’m using a china made ups. It is a modified sine wave type @ 1000VA hooked up to a 15-plate maintenance-free car battery.
Currently using a Protec AVR as of now. I’ll be switching to a UPS soon. Hoepfully, I’ll be able to get back here and read some user-based reviews.
