Got an insider tip that the HTC Desire will be launched in the Philippines on June 18, 2010. This comes as a surprise since the HTC Legend was locally released just a month ago.
The HTC Desire is very similar to the Nexus One and even deemed a bit better due to HTC’s home-brewed Sense UI.

HTC Desire
Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor
3.7 inches AMOLED touchscreen @ 480 x 800 pixels
576 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
up to 16GB on microSD
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
Bluetooth 2.1
WiFi 802.11 b/g
5 MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
Stereo FM Radio
GpS with aGPS support
The HTC Desire runs Android OS, v2.1 (Eclair) out of the box but will surely be ready for a Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade.
We’re not sure how much the retail price will be but expect it to be higher than the HTC Hero and HTC Legend’s SRP — so Php35k to Php40k perhaps? We will soon find out.
Update: Got word that some stores are selling it for Php31,000

i do hope HTC assess their pricing policy.
they’re really really overpriced!
the Desire and N1 sells for $530 and at 50 pesos per dollar it would be only 26,500 and PH pesos are strong these days…
wouldn’t it be much cheaper to sell here since they might ship from China (assuming they are manufactured in China) than across the globe (from US)?
if only they sold it here at US pricing then I would not hesitate to buy an HTC product.
this might be the reason why the smartphone market is being dominated by samsung.
got that phone hir in sydney..for just around $779 which is around 30Kphp +…
Yawn, why did it take so long to launch it here? I got one months ago from Singapore. Great phone, but the screen is noticeable smaller than my HD2 and it makes a difference. After a few weeks with the Desire, I ended up putting my main sim in the HD2 and the Desire gets the secondary sim.

will the htc desire sold here in the philippines have the android marketplace icon?
coz some htc phones remove the marketplace menu due to country restrictions.

If they are selling that HTC with a price ranging from 35-40 which is very ridiculous, well many might go with Iphone, if they want to compete with apple here in our country they should at least sell it with reasonable price like around 25k-30k
