Starmobile Knight Elite Review

Performance and Benchmarks

Powering the Knight Elite is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snadragon 615 octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 405 GPU, and 2GB RAM. It has the same configuration as the Lenovo PHAB Plus. Performance is smooth and snappy and can certainly handle heavy Android games such as Need For Speed No Limits.

• AnTuTu – 32,401
• Quadrant – 22,145
• Vellamo – 2,121 (Chrome), 1,483 (Multicore), 988 (Metal)
• 3D Mark – 174 (Sling Shot ES 3.0)
• Gaming Temp – 43-C

Connectivity and Call Quality

The Knight Elite comes with the usual connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM Radio, OTA update. It doesn’t have NFC but it has dual-SIM features with both SIM (micro + nano) slots supporting 4G LTE connectivity. Voice calls are loud and clear while mobile data works well as long as you’re in an area of coverage.

Battery Life

Powering the Knight Elite is a 2,600mAh non-removable battery which is lower than what you would expect of a smartphone of this caliber. Using PC Mark’s battery bench, we got a score of 6 hours and 52 minutes, while on our standard video loop test (Airplane mode, 1080p video on loop, 50% brightness and volume, headset plugged in) we got 8 hours and 35 minutes. It could last you a whole day with light to moderate usage but not so much if you’re into games a lot.

Conclusion

The Starmobile Knight Elite exudes some of the best qualities of a phone that users are looking for – good display and performance, dual-SIM with LTE connectivity, and a nice build and design. For Php9,990, the Knight Elite won’t break the bank for users who are looking the features mentioned.

Perhaps its biggest challenge is its competition. One good example is the Xiaomi Mi 4i which is also a good-looking and great performing phone with almost the same price tag.

Got a problem with this unit. I bought it as my second phone but after a few days, the unit would just stopped showing display and after few seconds of showing, it would return back again to its problem. The store where I bought the unit changed it with the same model. Thereafter, I encountered problem with charging and returned it back to the store for the second time. After a few minutes of examining the phone, the sales clerk figured out that the reason why the phone wont charge is that the tip of the charger, the one being inserted on the phone, was not pushed very well. Well, I let that one passed. However, a few days thereafter, I had to return it again because the unit just stopped working one day. Of course, they again fixed it. But to my disappointment, I encountered the same problem yesterday and I had to bring it back again to the service center. They told me that I was the only one who had complained about the said phone, but I reminded them of the first unit that they had to replace too. So, I don’t really know what’s the problem of the phone when in fact, I don’t use it that much, because I have an Iphone 6S plus and a big lenovo phone.

Repair is too expensive, i bought Knight Elite last 2 weeks ago, very frustrating that the glass cover of the LCD was broken, nalaglag sia sa 1foot lng kataas na kama. i brought to Starmobile for service and then they quoted me for almost 4k. 3,610.00 for the front assembly plus 350.00 service fee.. not reasonable because the problem is only the glass cover of the LCD but they have to quote the entire panel.. price of the unit is 6,490.00 only. kung gagastos ka ng 4k para sa repair ay hndi na reasonable dahil ang daming phones jan na mabibili lng ng worth of 4k, same specs na sa unit na ito. my point is hindi worth it mag pa repair kapag nasira mo kahit tempered glass lng. isip isip, kung ako d na bibili ng star mobile. what if magaya kayo sa akin, d ko naman ginusto na mabagsak ko, iniingatan ko naman pero nangyayari talaga ang aksidente. once it happen, your mobile considered garbage.

Inilagay mo ba yung screen protector na kasama dun sa box? kasi male-lessen yata damage sa screen kapag may screen protector. plano ko kasing bumili nito….

inilagay mo ba yung screen protector na kasama doon sa box..

    • Avatar for Terence Terence says:

Kasi naman po, okay, let’s say iniingatan mo nga. But, as mentioned on the specs of the phone. The screen is One-glass solution. It means… that the GLASS and the SCREEN is laminated and intact. So, if the glass is broken, you need to replace the whole screen. Same as the Samsung Galaxy S phones, iPhone devices, Sony Xperia and other OGS screen devices.

    • Avatar for Louie Diangson Louie Diangson says:

Hi Zzee, it’s just standard Auto and sufficient amount of natural light. Make sure that you wipe the lens first before shooting to make sure that images are sharp.

Parang inaalis nila ang nfc features. So yugatech writers- bakit parang hindi na sumusikat ang nfc sa mga cellphones ngayon? It is a feature that I look out for

Admin, based po sa experience nyo dito sa tatlo, alin po ang mas better ? Ito, Flare X or Xiaomi Mi 4i ? Suggestion naman po para sa pasko. Thanks :)

    • Avatar for random reader random reader says:

Mi 4i before this, however, you don’t have the option to expand the memory on it. Your call.

      not the admin/author
