OpenAI is saying that DeepSeek may have ‘inappropriately’ taken data from their model to develop their own AI chatbot. As per an OpenAI spokesperson via NBC, DeepSeek may have used distillation to develop their model. For context, Distillation is a training method used to train a large language model (LLM) with data generated from another LLM. The spokesperson said that OpenAI is aware and reviewing indications where DeepSeek may have inappropriately distilled their models. LG said that many of these smart functions will eventually trickle down to lower tier models, but for now, the full AI experience sits in the mid to higher end lineup. In some markets, like Malaysia and Singapore, LG offers a LG Subscribe model, where you effectively rent the appliance instead of paying the full price upfront. Plus, LG’s accredited service centers regularly attend training to handle AI integrated appliances, so technicians are no longer seeing dumb machines but learning to treat them as smart, connected devices.
