For Android 15, Google is working on significant changes to desktop mode with a focus on better windowing capabilities. Google has had a desktop mode available for a while. Desktop mode has been making steady progress, now able to handle a side-by-side display with two apps running in-display. But now, Google is working towards improving the multi-window Android desktop experience with some progress. Google has started rolling out Android’s new Desktop Mode for Pixel phones, allowing users to connect their device to an external monitor and use it like a desktop computer. In Desktop Mode, apps can open in multiple windows, similar to how they work on a laptop or PC. Desktop Mode is available on Pixel 8 devices and newer models, including foldable Pixel phones, as long as they support USB DisplayPort.
