The Esports World Cup Foundation has officially confirmed a $45 million funding commitment for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup 2026, a new global tournament centered on national teams rather than traditional esports clubs. Set to debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 2 to 29, 2026, the Esports Nations Cup introduces a country-versus-country format designed to add national identity, pride, and long-term structure to competitive gaming. Unlike existing club-based competitions, the Esports Nations Cup allows professional players to represent their countries across 16 game titles, while still accounting for the role of esports organizations. Meanwhile, club incentives are tied directly to player performance, encouraging esports organizations to participate without undermining their competitive calendars. Several titles have already been confirmed for the 2026 event, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dota 2, and Trackmania, with more games expected to be announced soon. With national teams, equal pay across titles, and a long-term development framework, the Esports Nations Cup aims to establish a new pillar in the global esports calendar—one that connects elite competition with national identity and fan loyalty.
