The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has recently moved the implementation of cashless toll collection to December 1 to give ample time for motorists who have yet to install RFID stickers on their vehicles. Previously, the department announced that it will implement a cashless toll collection starting November 2. DOTr's attached agency, the TRB, stated that Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) are all equipped and ready to implement the new order. The implementation of cashless toll collections at the expressways and major toll roads are part of the government's initiative in preventing the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and avoiding traffic congestion in toll plazas.
