Google is ending its Assistant after many years of good service. Google Assistant will be replaced by Gemini on Android, Android Auto, and WearOS. As AI requires a certain level of hardware, Google Assistant will continue operation on smartphones that don't meet the minimum specifications (2GB of RAM, Android 10), Google Home devices, Google TV, smart displays, and other similar technologies. Cars with Android Automotive built-in (not just an Android Auto head unit) will also continue to operate on Google Assistant.
