For Android 15, Google is working on significant changes to desktop mode with a focus on better windowing capabilities. Google has had a desktop mode available for a while. Desktop mode has been making steady progress, now able to handle a side-by-side display with two apps running in-display. But now, Google is working towards improving the multi-window Android desktop experience with some progress. At WWDC 2026, the company confirmed it partnered with Google, using the technologies behind Gemini, to create the next generation of Apple Foundation Models. Google has started rolling out a redesigned Google Wallet app for Android alongside new Google Pay verification features announced during Google I/O 2026. Alongside the redesign, Google Pay is introducing cross-device payment verification for desktop purchases. Users making payments on desktop browsers can now approve transactions through their Android phones using biometric authentication, PIN verification, or QR code scanning.
