Another favorite in the networked media player market is the HDX 1000. A relative of the Popcorn Hour (similar hardware platform created by Syabas), the HDX 1000 comes in a black brushed-metal chassis that houses a terabyte of photos, music and hidef videos. Aside form the pretty packaging, the menu/interface of the HDX 1000 seemed more responsive compared to the Popcorn Hour I tried a year ago. However, the $399 Asus Eee PC 1000HE is looking to be a worthy replacement to my MSI Wind U100. The Eee PC 1000HE uses a newer Intel Atom CPU -- the N280 which runs at 1.66GHz (667MHz FSB compared the to 533MHz of the N270) as well as an HD-capable Intel GN40 chipset for smoother video playback.
