NVIDIA has unveiled the Jetson TX1 module - a credit card-sized supercomputer designed for new generation autonomous robots and drones. With the Jetson TX1, NVIDIA aims to usher in a new wave of smart devices like drones that can navigate on their own, compact security systems that can identify suspicious activities, and robots that can do task tailored to individuals' habits through machine learning. According to NVIDIA, the Jetson TX1 "is the first embedded computer designed to process deep neural networks -- computer software that can learn to recognize objects or interpret information." It also boasts 1 teraflops of performance that is comparable to the fastest supercomputer from 15 years ago. Earlier today, NVidia announced that they will be rolling out a firmware update for their popular Android-based gaming console which brings all the good stuff that Android KitKat has to offer, as well as a new feature called Remote GameStream. Speaking of additional features, the firmware update will also enable the NVidia Shield to support wireless mice/keyboards which will certainly come in handy when the Shield is on Console Mode. Along with the announcement of the upcoming Android KitKat update, which is expected to be seeded on the 2nd of April, NVidia is also giving the Shield a temporary $50 price cut until the end of next month.
