Based on Ookla Global Speedtest Index for November 2020 rankings, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tops the global list with the average mobile internet speeds of 170.30Mbps, followed by South Korea (166.70Mbps), Qatar (159.66Mbps), China (148.12Mbps), and Australia (113.16Mbps), sporting the top two to five, respectively. Meanwhile, investments in telecommunications infrastructure in the Philippines have been entirely privately-led, suggesting that most ICT infrastructure spendings in the country depend on the private sector. This is the second time Starlink has increased their Residential Plan in the Philippines which was originally only Php2,700/month in 2023. Two US-based satellite internet providers are expected to launch in the Philippines this year, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
