We're here in the island of Maui, Hawaii to attend the annual Snapdragon Summit as Qualcomm formally unveils their latest chipsets -- the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 for mobile and the Snapdragon X2 Elite for PC. No other compensation were made for the coverage of the Snapdragon Summit.) Originally teased last week, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 is the latest mobile SoC from Qualcomm. * Connectivity: Snapdragon X85 5G Modem-RF System with 30% faster AI inferencing; Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 Mobile Connectivity System with Wi-Fi 7 and integrated AI delivering 40% more power savings and up to 50% lower gaming latency. To demonstrate the power of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5, Qualcomm provided us with a a reference device (QRD) that we can use and test a number of benchmarks. Qualcomm flew us to Maui, Hawaii for this year's Snapdragon Summit to take a closer look at their latest mobile and PC chipsets. The QRD is a smartphone with a 6.8-inch QWHD+ (1440 x 3200 pixels) AMOLED (LTPO) display running on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 chipset with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM (5.3GHz), 1TB UFS 4.1 (HS-G%) storage and 4.3Ah battery. Qualcomm has already increased the cost of some premium Snapdragon processors in recent years. Qualcomm has not announced which Snapdragon models will receive the largest increases.
